Networking

October 25th, 2006

No, I'm not talking about creating a connection between multiple computers. I'm talking about creating a connection between multiple individuals to learn and get ahead in life. Networking creates opportunities all the time. Networking helps expand your skill set and learn from knowledgeable individuals. For those that are still in school and want to expand their network, attend as many job fairs, job panels and other presentations as possible. Introduce yourself and if it's a job fair, have a resume handy (even if you're not interested in the company or you don't think you can make it in - you've nothing to lose). Always take or ask for business cards and enter person's information in your Address Book. Note which company they belong ...

A bug in Google Finance

October 24th, 2006

Berkshire Hathaway has two classes of stock it offers, Class A and a more affordable Class B. As of today, Class A trades at $100,600 per share and has a stock ticker of BRK.A and Class B shares are $3,354 per share (1/30th of A) and have a stock ticker of BRK.B. If you look up BRK.A on Google Finance, everything is fine, but if you look up BRK.B, the automatic Ajax price and today's price change displays the wrong data for the stock. In fact, it displays data for Class A shares. To test this, go to http://finance.google.com and enter BRK.B in the search field and hit Enter. Look on top left to see the latest price (should be in $3,000s) and ...

Some old branding jobs

October 13th, 2006

A while ago I used to be really into branding. I really like the business aspect of the brand and I think I really got into it during my marketing class few semesters ago. So, here are just some examples of work I dug up from a while ago. OfficeFire.com OfficeFire was going to be a blog or a service targeted directly to ... offices and all things business. Unfortunately, this project never got past this stage. I really enjoyed working on this one and had really great ideas about where I would take the site, so it's unfortunate it never took off. That is not to say it never will... The logo represents a simple cubicle ...

Opened a trading account

October 13th, 2006

About time right? I've always been interested in stocks, but I've either never had enough money to open a trading account or was simply scared to invest money into something I knew nothing about. Well, I'm now 21 and almost done with a finance major, so it's only right that I start investing. At this age, there's a lot of room for error. Just like with anything else, we learn from our mistakes and with money, it's better to do it when we're young and still have our whole lives to recover whatever amount of money we may lose in our adolescent years of investing. I've eying Scottrade as my online broker for over a year now, so they ...

Welcome to all new readers!

October 12th, 2006

So, I noticed the number of visitors go up earlier today. Apparently I was featured on some CSS galleries and as we all know that drives traffic like crazy. I just wanted to take a minute and welcome some new people. Feel free to comment and say HI. Things look dead a bit, but that's just because school's been fairly crazy lately. Last year of college will do that to you (being that most of my classes are my major related). I'll definitely be around these parts, so stay tuned!
